Everything you need know about Urethane Casting

A manufacturing bridge to turn your prototypes into low volume production

Silicone Urethane casting , also known as silicone vacuum casting, is a manufacturing process of using silicone molds from a master model to cast small batch of copy plastic parts under the vacuum condition. The material could be polyurethane, ABS and other copy material. The cast plastic parts from Urethane casting could achieve the strength and hardness of ABS or required plastics. In addition, client could also customize the color of cast parts. Comparing with plastic injection molding process, Silicone and urethane casting is an excellent manufacturing process to produce high-quality plastic cast parts in small to medium quantities (~20-100 parts) with shorter lead times and lower tooling costs

Benefits of silicone casting or Vacuum casting

  • Lower tooling cost
  • Faster lead time less than 15 days
  • Production quantity – Ideal for Low to Mid Volume Production
  • Render fine surface detail and provide High Quality finish looks
  • Material Selection: Over 50 resins could be used to cast plastics parts
  • Size: Very Large Part Size Capability
  • The color selection and strength of the molded parts are very flexible and you could Custom Finishes as the plastic parts can be Cast in any Color & Texture
  • Durability: ability to operate in demanding environments

We could offer a wide selection of polyurethane resins to match injection moulding materials including but not limited to:

  • Rubber and Elastomers
  • ABS
  • Nylon
  • Glass filled Nylon
  • Polypropylene
  • Transparent Polycarbonate and acrylic

This simple and fast prototype manufacturing process allows engineers and designers to turn their designs into short series runs for testing and functional check or low volume production.
